Matt Heafy , vocalist and guitarist of Trivium , has released another song from his project Ibaraki . “Rōnin” features a guest appearance by Gerard Way , vocalist of My Chemical Romance.
Ibaraki is a solo project by Heafy, but it features production and assistance from Ihsahn of Emperor . Rashomon , the project's debut album, will be released on May 6th. The work is inspired by Japanese myths, paying homage to the vocalist's family origins.
When discussing the song “Rōnin”, Heafy explained that Gerard Way was responsible for all the screams in the song, while Ihsahn does the solo and his family does the “whoa ohs”. Heafy sings the entire song and Alex Bent plays the drums.
Regarding the theme, Heafy explained that the word "Rōnin" means masterless warrior, and so the song tells his story. Listen below.
